About Shae Interiors

DEBORAH’S FAVORITES

Currently celebrating: Being married to my best friend for more than a quarter of a century!

Go to color for reviving a room: Right now it would have to be Benjamin Moore Wish or Stone Hearth. Both warm but neutral and inviting.

Drink: Wine, always wine. Cabernet Sauvignon with its deep russet undertones in the cooler months and Pinot Grigio with its lively hints of citrine in the warmer months.

Song: That’s a tough one. I am a huge fan of U2, Jazz and 80s hits but my go-to happy song is “Let Your Love Flow” by The Bellamy Brothers

Most prized possession: My dining table, a large, custom-made rectangular table constructed of circa 1800 floorboards from a deconstructed barn in the Welsh area in Canada.

I collect: Art from my travels. From the elegant acrylics and oils from the artist village of Montmartre in France to the bright, curvaceous masks from Venice and Curaçao.

Long weekend: An excuse to get away is always welcomed, whether a weekend in NYC filled with theater and museums, or a relaxing weekend in the mountains to unwind with a hike, I love it all.

Friday night at home: Winter – curl up with a nice fire and soft music, Summer – hang with friends for a bbq on the deck.

Binge Watch: I confess, I am a TV junkie. I tend to binge watch and then I might not watch for days. I love comedy and drama. Game of Thrones, The Office, Modern Family, Handmaids Tale…

An interior of any space should reflect the personality of those who exist within it’s walls – beauty, mood, drama, sexuality, edginess, sophistication and playfulness.”

About Shae Interiors

Deborah Javier, principal and owner of Shae Interiors, graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, earning both an AAS and BFA in Interior Design. Prior to starting her own boutique Interior Design Firm, Deborah worked for a number of New York City and Hudson Valley Interior Design firms. As a licensed and accredited Interior Designer, Deborah has built an extensive portfolio of residential, commercial, hospitality and institutional projects throughout New York, Southern Florida and the East Coast.

Deborah’s Roots & Design Aesthetic

Deborah’s design aesthetic has its root not from the city, but from a much humbler childhood amongst fields of cotton, red clay, and honeysuckle; of cloudless days spent lounging under the thrumming song of cicadas and ending on the porch with pinto beans and cornbread. Her southern roots have bolstered her need to “tell a story”, whether through the elegance of French doors made from reclaimed Egyptian pine; a formal dining table made from the floorboards of an old provincial Canadian barn, still rutted with the long deep tracks of a century of passage; or even the contrasting brilliance of a contemporary foyer flanked by columns that were raised from an 18th century Hindu temple. Deborah takes great pride in her ability to blend a fresh design with family heirlooms and treasured pieces.

US Air Force Veteran & Interior Designer

These are the perspectives that Deborah has nurtured from a childhood spent in Dixie, and an adulthood spent traveling amongst the varied cultures around the world, first as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and then as an interior designer with the love of all things European and Asian.

Vision & Understanding

Deborah is transformative, and with her innate understanding of the diverse lifestyles, tastes, and needs of her clientele, paired with her own experience, passion, and vision as an Interior Designer, Deborah can help tell the story for every space.

Let Deborah help you find your “inside voice”.
